Job Title: Assistant Digital Sewing Pattern Creator at Lydia Naomi
Job Summary
Lydia Naomi needs your skills! I am looking for someone who is passionate about detailed, quality sewing who is well versed in Adobe Illustrator, is familiar with pattern making and knows how to sew a garment with little instruction. The candidate will employ their skills in Adobe Illustrator and Intermediate knowledge of sewing and pattern making to assist with formatting sewing patterns, creating spec images such as technical drawings and/or cut layout guides, and potentially create and update website PDF pattern listings according to the Lydia Naomi template style and specification.

Lydia Naomi is all about creating a space for sewers to learn and grow in their skills. My patterns are simple but unique, leaving room for personal interpretation. I believe in furthering the slow fashion movement by teaching people how to create clothing that fits their unique figure and style. With Lydia Naomi you will have a chance to learn from Lydia, the designer and grow in your skills as a pattern maker, sewer and slow fashion enthusiast!
Skills
Adobe Illustrator - must understand how to use the application, it is optimal to have some knowledge of using the application for pattern making, has created garment technical drawings
Excel - must be comfortable with inputting numbers and formulas
Qualifications
Advanced beginner to intermediate understanding of sewing and pattern-making
Detail oriented (I am very detailed, down to the angle of a notch and will expect a similar approach in my assistant)
Communication Skills
Time management, hardworking
Must own a working printer
Fluent in the English language
Bonus
Familiarity with Indie Patterns - you have sewn many Indie patterns
Canva
Etsy
Squarespace (website setup)
Responsibilities and Duties
Format finished pattern into multiple file templates
Create cut layout configuration and final graphics
Create finished garment specs and diagrams
May also include:Create technical drawings
Assist with Pattern Testing Process - selecting candidates and accumulating feedback
Consult with designer about sewing instructions, fit, style and design
Assist with product listings on Etsy and Lydia Naomi Website
Assist with customer inquiries
Location: Remote - candidate will be able to work from the comfort of their own home. A desktop/laptop with a large screen will be optimal. Communication will take place via video calls, email and phone.
Work Hours: Ongoing Project Based/Freelance/Contract work: anywhere from 30-50 hrs per month. Will start with a trial period.
Compensation: TBD, based on experience
